Self Help Africa has been working in sub-Saharan Africa for thirty years to tackle the root causes of hunger and famine across the continent. In 2011 was commissioned to review their existing visual identity. The in-house marketing and communications team felt that their visual communications had become repetitive and that the existing visual identity no longer empowered them to create exciting and compelling communications. I refreshed their visual identity system, introducing additional elements such as infographics, maps and embellishments. I also added an additional typeface to their visual identity system which added a friendlier and more casual impression to communications. I also expanded the range of their colour palette and restructured their enormous image library to enable them to search and select the best and most impactful images from their archive of thousands of high quality images.
